Fire Watchman Training Course

The FWSC training course equips participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively fulfil the role of a Fire Watchman. This includes understanding and implementing safety protocols during hot work activities, preventing and responding to fire hazards, and supporting overall workplace safety.

The Fire Watchman Safety Course is designed for individuals aspiring to become Fire Watchmen. Whenever hot work activities are involved and a hot work permit is being requested, it is mandatory to have at least one designated and trained fire watchman present. This course is suitable for anyone involved in or assigned to work activities that could result in or cause a fire to start.

• Understand hazards of fire in the workplace
• Learn preventive measures against fire and explosions
• Familiarise with the application process for permit-to-work systems
• Be competent in wearing personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Know and apply safety precautions when working with different hazards
• Respond effectively in case of fire and emergencies

• Know the different types of hot work
• Understand characteristics of flammable substances
• Understand how vapours or gases accumulate in confined spaces
• Understand causes of fires and explosions
• Review case studies on shipyard fire and explosion accidents
• Apply safety measures to prevent fire and explosions

Entry Requirements

Workers or site personnel who are to be appointed as a Fire Watchman when applying for a hot work permit.

Assumed Skills and Knowledge

• Learners must be at least 18 years old
• Possess basic knowledge of fire safety

Slide presentations, sharing of best practices and real-life incidents, and hands-on practical sessions.

Practical Performance (PP)

Learners must be assessed and deemed competent before certification.

Upon successful completion, a certification card will be awarded by EFG Training Services Pte Ltd.
